Worthy Cause Potential Donations Estimator

 

Buyers and sellers of real estate:

  • The U.S. population moves on average every 5 years.
  • Therefore about 20% of population moves every year.
  • As a third are renters, this leaves about 13% as home owners.
  • Since home owners move less frequently than renters, subtract 3% to get to 10% of home owners move each year.
  • Divide by 2 as there are about 2 people per household, leaving 5% of U.S. households moving each year.
  • In other words, there are about 5 homes sold per 100 people per year.
  • Say half of these people use the Fundraising Real Estate program, (2.5%).
  • But each person both sells a home and then buys a home using the program, so you have 2 transactions per person.
  • That is, 5 transactions/100 people/year.
  • The average U.S. home price is $300,000 and the most common real estate commission is 6%.
  • Based on those figures, both the sale and a purchase would each generate a donation of $1,350. Both would be $2,700.
  • Therefore 5 times $2,700 equals $13,500 per 100 people per year.

  • Almost everyone knows one person who may be buying or selling real estate.
  • Some will not know anyone, but some will know more than one.
  • Therefore, we will say, on average, 100% of members know one potential person buying or selling real estate.
  • Each referral of a buyer or seller (that completes a transaction) generates an average of $675 to a worthy cause.
  • Let us say 25% of your group members use this program.
  • So, 25 times $675 gives $16,875 per 100 people per year.
